By dedicating gardens, families and friends create living tributes in memory of their loved ones. Named gardens are designed hand-in-hand with the families to carefully reflect the personalities of those who are memorialized here – gardens are filled with favorite plants and special flowers; gardens offer fragrance and views; gardens speak of memories and love.
Hospice of the Western Reserve offers a place for these gardens to grow at our David Simpson Hospice House on Lake Erie. Beautiful in every season and enjoyed by patients, families and the community, the gardens at David Simpson Hospice House are a tranquil and healing place.
We have recently acquired land to the west of David Simpson Hospice House, expanding the gardens along the lakeshore with an additional 12 acres of green space. Its future development is open to the ideas and inspiration of those who wish to leave a living legacy.
The Ames Family Hospice House, currently under construction, presents additional opportunities for memorial gardens. Surrounded by beech and maple trees, public trails and naturalized landscaping, memorial gardens will help create a home-like environment.
Gardeners understand that a garden can never be truly finished. If you would like to learn more about creating a new memorial garden or wish to help nurture our existing gardens, please call 216.383.3716 or contact Laura Lee Martin at lmartin@hospicewr.org.
The gardens at David Simpson Hospice House and Vista Walk are open to the public. Come visit at 300 East 185th Street, Cleveland, Ohio 44119 and enjoy the therapeutic spaces.
