The Hospice Institute is dedicated to assisting physicians in preparing to care for a rapidly aging population. We provide educational events, host a Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship and offer one-on-one physician education. Continuing Medical Education

Hospice of the Western Reserve’s Hospice Institute is one of the only non-hospital providers of continuing medical education (CME) credits in Northeast Ohio and holds CME programs throughout the year. End-of-Life Learning Series

The End-of-Life Learning Series hosts programs on pain and symptom control, the grieving process, the disease process, patient and caregiver needs and more.

Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship

In partnership with MetroHealth Medical Center and Case Western Reserve, Hospice of the Western Reserve offers an ACGME-accredited fellowship in Hospice and Palliative Care. This one-year fellowship provides experience in:

• Out-patient palliative care clinic
• In-patient hospice care
• Acute hospital palliative care consultation
• Training in the interdisciplinary team model
• Long-term care/geriatrics
• Physician house calls
• Community-based hospice care
• Acute symptom management
• Pediatric hospice and palliative medicine consultation

The fellowship is open to applicants trained in internal medicine, family practice, anesthesia, obstetrics, gynecology or emergency medicine. Two fellowship positions are available per year.
