Grief Coach

Grief Coach: A gift to you from Hospice of the Western Reserve
Hospice of the Western Reserve is now offering personalized, private and secure grief support for family members of our patients via text message. This one-of-a-kind service is offered in partnership with Grief Coach, and gives our hospice families ongoing grief support with personalized tips and resources delivered twice a week, for 13 months.

Grief Coach subscriptions are a gift from HWR to our grieving family members. You allowed us to care for your loved ones, and now we want to extend this care to you. Grief Coach text support does not replace the other bereavement care services offered by HWR. You can access our other services at any time.

If you have friends and family who want to help in your grieving process, Grief Coach will also text them tips and reminders too. Grief Coach subscriptions are paid for entirely by Hospice of the Western Reserve as a gift and thank you for allowing us to care for your loved one.

Grief Coach features:
  • These are not generic texts. Participants will receive customized messages based on their loss (for ex. loss of a spouse, loss to COVID-19, etc.)
  • Users receive two texts a week for 13 months as well as tailored messages around key dates and holidays that are important to them
  • Simple and easy to use. There’s nothing to install, you can sign up online in 10 minutes and your texts will start right away.
  • Your data is secure and is never shared with any third parties
  • You will not be spammed with notifications and will retain complete ownership of your data.
  • You can stop and start your messages any time, simply by texting STOP and START

“The texting capabilities provided by Grief Coach are particularly meaningful during the COVID crisis, a time when many of the more traditional ways of providing in-person grief support are on hold. Our bereavement team now has the ability to offer personalized, text-based support to the thousands of hospice families we care for each year. This service adds a valuable new communications channel to the care we currently provide.”
