Grief in the Workplace: Lessons from Employees


According to statistics at any given time, twenty-five percent of the workforce is grieving a loss. If you are returning to work after the death of a loved one, you will quickly realize that 2 to 3 days of bereavement leave only allows time to attend to the practical matters of the death.  Grief remains and often impacts work performance.  From distraction to absenteeism to errors to incomplete assignments, work performance is affected.

Drs. Wellman, Connors Honored By Crain's


Two Hospice of the Western Reserve affiliated doctors were honored by  Crain’s Cleveland Business  as "Health Care Heroes." Dr. Charles Wellman and Dr. Alfred F. Connors Jr. were acknowledged at a special event on March 15. The Health Care Heroes were announced in the Feb. 29 edition of Crain's Cleveland Business.

Effort Brings Patient 6,060 Miles Closer to Roots


James Violi, who lives with his wife, Barbara, in Columbia Station, has vivid memories of a youth spent working in his uncle’s olive orchard in Calabria, located on the “toe” of the Italian peninsula. Known for its pristine beauty, the region is bordered by the crystal blue waters of the Ionian and Tyrrhenian Seas. The interior is framed by spectacular views of three mountain ranges.  When people ask James about his native land he always says: “Calabria isn’t something you can explain; you have to experience it.”
