The culinary team at EDWINS Restaurant, 13101 Shaker Square, visited David Simpson Hospice House recently to prepare and serve residents and their families a dinner of expertly prepared French cuisine as part of Hospice of the Western Reserve’s innovative Meal to Remember program. Families dined on a delectable meal prepared and served by Chef Gerry Grim. The menu included a salad of local greens with house-pickled onions dressed in vinaigrette, an entree of Coq au vin with herb-roasted potatoes and a dessert of peach and strawberry compote with vanilla pastry cream.

Once each month, Meal to Remember brings a different Cleveland-area restaurant to Hospice of the Western Reserve’s in-patient care center, David Simpson Hospice House on E. 185th St., so residents and families can enjoy a restaurant dining experience together, complete with fine china and linens, wine and live musical entertainment. All of the food, time and talent are donated by the restaurant. Wine for all of the Meal to Remember dinners is donated by Scoperta Importing Co., Inc.

“It’s impossible to overstate how much it means to our families during this difficult phase to be able to gather around a dinner table again to enjoy a fine dining experience,” said Bill Finn, President and CEO of Hospice of the Western Reserve. “For many, this will be the first time they have enjoyed a meal together for months. We’re extremely grateful to EDWINS for making this experience possible; we also commend Brandon Chrostowski and his leadership team for the meaningful work they are doing in our community.”

"The power of food is immense, and having the ability to share it is A GREAT gift to possess,” said Brandon E. Chrostowski, Founder, President and CEO of EDWINS Leadership & Restaurant Institute. “It is a privilege sharing this meal and making it one to remember."
