Veterans from all branches of the United States Armed Forces and their families are invited to a free luncheon and public Veterans Recognition Ceremony at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 7, at Williams on the Lake, 87 Lafayette Road in Medina. The event is hosted by Hospice of Medina County and Hospice of the Western Reserve. Doors will open at 11 a.m. Registration is available online at or by calling 216-502-4440 or www.hospicewr.org/medinaVRC. The deadline to register is Nov. 1.

The highlight of the event is a moving ceremony during which each veteran, with permission, will be recognized individually for his or her service and presented with a commemorative lapel pin issued by the Ohio Hospice Veteran Partnership. Featured speakers will include Medina resident Susan Taylor.  Mrs. Taylor served as an Army Nurse during the Vietnam Era and retired as a Captain.

More than 200 veterans and their families are expected to attend. The ceremony will publicly recognize all veterans; no hospice ties are necessary.

Hospice of Medina County and Hospice of the Western Reserve also are partners in the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War, a Department of Defense program that honors Vietnam War veterans and their families.
