Veterans Invited to Register for Public Recognition Ceremony Nov. 7 in Medina


​Veterans from all branches of the United States Armed Forces and their families are invited to a free luncheon and public Veterans Recognition Ceremony at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 7, at Williams on the Lake, 87 Lafayette Road in Medina. The event is hosted by Hospice of Medina County and Hospice of the Western Reserve. Doors will open at 11 a.m. Registration is available online at or by calling 216-502-4440 or www.hospicewr.org/medinaVRC. The deadline to register is Nov. 1.

Colleen Moran Receives 2018 Most Treasured Volunteer Award


​Mentor resident Colleen Moran, a Hospice of the Western Reserve volunteer for 18 years, has received a 2018 Most Treasured Volunteer Award from the Center for Community Solutions, a nonpartisan think tank in Cleveland focused on health, social and economic issues. Presenting the award to Colleen was Tiffani Tucker, Channel 19 news anchor. Candidates were evaluated on criteria that included innovative approaches, difficult obstacles overcome, accomplishments, community need and the volunteer's impact in the Northern Ohio region.

For 40 years, our paid and volunteer staff at Hospice of the Western Reserve have been honored to walk side by side with the loved ones of more than 120,000 individuals in the final phase of life. As one of the earliest nonprofit pioneers involved in bringing the hospice movement to the U.S., Hospice of the Western Reserve remains dedicated to upholding the dignity of each person we serve as we move into the next 40 years and beyond.

Dr. Kenelm F. McCormick Included on Best Doctors List


​Longtime Medina physician Dr. Kenelm McCormick has been named one of the area's top doctors by Cleveland Magazine. The recognition is part of the magazine's annual "Best of Cleveland" awards. Dr. McCormick was included in the "Best Doctors" list, specifically in the Family Medicine/Hospice and Palliative Medicine category. The list was compiled from the national Best Doctors in America List, which includes the nation's most respected specialists and outstanding primary care physicians.
