Fat Cats Serves Families Holiday Meal to Remember


​For the fourth consecutive year, Fat Cats, the popular eclectic eatery in Tremont, provided a Meal to Remember for residents of David Simpson Hospice House, their families and caregivers. This year, chef and owner Ricardo Sandoval personally delivered and served the food.  More than 90 people were treated to a meal of Chicken Augusto (chicken breast prepared with lemon butter and capers), green beans, Eggplant Parmesan, salad and garlic bread.  Wine for the dinner was generously donated by Scoperta Importing Co., Inc.

The Cleveland Metro Life Flight crew is in the business of giving back all year long, but this holiday season the dedicated medical team is also helping in another way: by collecting and donating items to help hospice patients and their families.

EDWINS Brings French Cuisine to Hospice Patients and Their Families


​The culinary team at EDWINS Restaurant, 13101 Shaker Square, visited David Simpson Hospice House recently to prepare and serve residents and their families a dinner of expertly prepared French cuisine as part of Hospice of the Western Reserve’s innovative Meal to Remember program. Families dined on a delectable meal prepared and served by Chef Gerry Grim. The menu included a salad of local greens with house-pickled onions dressed in vinaigrette, an entree of Coq au vin with herb-roasted potatoes and a dessert of peach and strawberry compote with vanilla pastry cream.

A Loving Mom’s Last Gift to Her Son


​Anyone can be a caregiver. Sometimes, hospice patients are filling the role of caregiver at the same time they themselves are receiving our care. This is often the case with parents of young children who are struggling with their own illness while addressing their family’s daily needs and thoughts of a future without them in it.
